Knobs, locks and latches

We live in an old house and I really love the detail in the door knobs and latches. I thought I would photograph them today.

Liebster blog award

I was very excited to find that Celine from Hong Kong Badger had nominated me for the Liebster Blog award.
The Liebster award is meant to connect and highlight new(ish) bloggers that have up to 200 followers.
As with other awards, this one has a few rules:
  • Link back to the blogger who gave you the award to keep the chain going.
  • Choose your top five, leave them a comment to let them know.
  • Post the award on your blog.
  • Soak in the love.
  • Spread the love :)
These are some blogs that I like to visit .
( I actually kept it to blogs with less than 100 followers because it was too hard to pick.)

Be sure to check out Hong Kong Badger . She has a really cool blog.
Some great photos and some interesting stories to look at .
I really like checking it out.

Book week parade.

I was at Charlie's book week parade this week and as part of Kat Slomas find your eye course,  I took loads of photos. It was an opportunity to experiment with taking photos of things that I feel less comfortable with. I don't feel confident taking people shots, because people move.
Especially at an event like this!
It was fun and I took a few that I really liked- I loved this one of Charlie.
He was dressed up as a character from a series called Maximum Ride. About orphans who had science experiments performed on them- hence the wings....
His lovely library teacher was the Mad Hatter, I really like how colourful she was...
I liked this shot of a teacher dressed as a witch in the middle of a crowd of children...
And I quite enjoyed taking a close up, I loved this smile....

It was fun, the kids looked like they enjoyed it, the teachers were all dressed up, and I found that if you take a lot of photos you're bound to get a few good ones.

I have these tulips on my kitchen windowsill at the moment. I'm really enjoying watching them open, and loving the sun shining through the window.

Night photography

I stood out the front of my house just as it was getting dark...
I looked down the street,
 across the road,
 up the street,
and back to our front porch.

After a week of a bit of sickness and busy-ness I'm grateful to get to the weekend.
And I'm grateful that I can link up with Maxabella loves.. to think about my reasons to be grateful.

This week I'm grateful for my musically talented family. I have just been to a school music performance night and it was really good. So glad to have committed music teachers who love the kids and encourage their best. Grateful that Nick has persevered with the trumpet. He's very talented.

It was dark and I was sitting too far away to get a good photo, so I've included this very blurry one.
I even had a go at trying to edit it a bit (I never do that!)

Morning sun.

I love the way that the light floods into this room in the morning making beautiful shapes and shadows.
Perfect for Shadow shot Sunday.

Parcels & pyjamas

I came home one day this week and was very excited to find this parcel on the doorstep.
A week ago I received an email announcing a sale of my favourite brand of pyjamas.
So I ordered some.

I love pyjamas and I particularly love these spotty blue, extremely comfortable pyjama pants.
So, I'm very grateful this week for a special delivery of pyjamas.
(As a matter of fact, I'm wearing them now!)

Check out other reasons to be grateful at Maxabella loves...

Frame within a frame

I was just reading this post at The Kat Eye View of the World about shooting a frame within a frame when photographing. I hardly ever do this so, seeing that I'm home today with a sick child, I thought I would have a wander around my house & garden to see what I could see.

I'm not sure I really got the best out of my 'frames' but I thought these shots were ok. I think I'll try again when I'm out and about.

Ten on ten:a day in the canteen.

ten on ten button small
I love this idea of taking 10 photos over 10 hours on the 10th of the month, so I did it today and joined in with Rebekah at a bit of sunshine.
On the 2nd Wednesday of every month (that's today) I organise a 'wrap' day in the canteen at Charlie's school. After Nick and James left for school I went to our local Lebanese food shop, bought loads of Lebanese bread and spent the rest of the day making wraps for the school canteen.

This is what my day looked like...

Unfortunately, Charlie woke up with a bad cough this morning so he didn't go to school. My lovely dad came and looked after him while I went to school and did my 'wrap' thing.
This last photo is me and dad having coffee.
