I was at Charlie's book week parade this week and as part of Kat Slomas find your eye course, I took loads of photos. It was an opportunity to experiment with taking photos of things that I feel less comfortable with. I don't feel confident taking people shots, because people move.
Especially at an event like this!
It was fun and I took a few that I really liked- I loved this one of Charlie.
He was dressed up as a character from a series called Maximum Ride. About orphans who had science experiments performed on them- hence the wings....
His lovely library teacher was the Mad Hatter, I really like how colourful she was...
I liked this shot of a teacher dressed as a witch in the middle of a crowd of children...
And I quite enjoyed taking a close up, I loved this smile....
It was fun, the kids looked like they enjoyed it, the teachers were all dressed up, and I found that if you take a lot of photos you're bound to get a few good ones.
After a week of a bit of sickness and busy-ness I'm grateful to get to the weekend.
And I'm grateful that I can link up with Maxabella loves.. to think about my reasons to be grateful.
This week I'm grateful for my musically talented family. I have just been to a school music performance night and it was really good. So glad to have committed music teachers who love the kids and encourage their best. Grateful that Nick has persevered with the trumpet. He's very talented.
It was dark and I was sitting too far away to get a good photo, so I've included this very blurry one.
I even had a go at trying to edit it a bit (I never do that!)
I came home one day this week and was very excited to find this parcel on the doorstep.
A week ago I received an email announcing a sale of my favourite brand of pyjamas.
So I ordered some.
I love pyjamas and I particularly love these spotty blue, extremely comfortable pyjama pants.
So, I'm very grateful this week for a special delivery of pyjamas.
(As a matter of fact, I'm wearing them now!)
I was just reading this post at The Kat Eye View of the World about shooting a frame within a frame when photographing. I hardly ever do this so, seeing that I'm home today with a sick child, I thought I would have a wander around my house & garden to see what I could see.
I'm not sure I really got the best out of my 'frames' but I thought these shots were ok. I think I'll try again when I'm out and about.
I love this idea of taking 10 photos over 10 hours on the 10th of the month, so I did it today and joined in with Rebekah at a bit of sunshine.
On the 2nd Wednesday of every month (that's today) I organise a 'wrap' day in the canteen at Charlie's school. After Nick and James left for school I went to our local Lebanese food shop, bought loads of Lebanese bread and spent the rest of the day making wraps for the school canteen.
This is what my day looked like...
Unfortunately, Charlie woke up with a bad cough this morning so he didn't go to school. My lovely dad came and looked after him while I went to school and did my 'wrap' thing.
