When I was quite new to blogging I discovered a fabulous linky over at Maxabella loves .
The idea was that we were to share things for which we were grateful.
Being a glass half full sort of girl I joined in regularly with my list of gratefuls.
Now, I haven't participated for a while, but when I found out that there was a party celebrating 2 years of  being grateful,
I thought I would come & join in!

So, I took the camera out with us this morning & was able to find quite a few things to be grateful for...

Here are some of the things that I am grateful for today..
*a mild Sydney winter's day
*family time in the sunshine & fresh air
*a dog friendly beach for Poppy to run around & find some friends
*after a few weeks of coughs & sniffles for our family, i think we're all feeling a bit healthier.
*school holidays

I'm joining in here with my grateful post!

{in the picture} june selfies

Half way there!
At the beginning of the year I decided to join with Christie at Urban Muser for a year long self portrait project.
I didn't know what to expect, but I didn't think I'd be taking photos of myself planking (this month's optional theme for {in the picture})
*Although I must say that both of my face down shots (below) were taken on the same day at the back & front of my house.
And here is just a part of me in these shots below,

waiting for a train...

and my reflection in a dusty mirror.
So far I've managed 5 photos each month plus a few extras here & there.
It's been fun! Thanks Christie- you've been very inspiring & encouraging.
6 months to go :)

on the weekend (part 2)

Last Sunday I went on a food & photography course in Cabramatta.
I posted some photos earlier in the week and now I've had a chance to look through & post some more.

This is a bit more of what our day looked like.
There was plenty of fresh produce in the markets.
This lady was sitting at the side of the road cutting a durian, it's quite a skill!
Oops, that's my sister in laws camera in the bottom right of this shot!

We also enjoyed some street entertainment.

snap it {self portrait}

This week's theme for {snap it} is self- portraits!
I've taken quite a few self portraits this year because I'm joining in a self portrait project here
It's been fun, but still a challenge to know where to look, to know how to compose, what to include...

So, the other morning while I was getting ready, the sun was streaming in through the bathroom window.
I grabbed the camera & tried to capture the light.
I've collaged the results.

on the weekend...

On the weekend I went with my lovely sister in law Jane to Cabramatta to do this fabulous food & photography course.
Cabramatta is a suburb of Sydney that is the hub of the Vietnamese community.
We bought banana fritters & chatted to these lovely ladies.
We visited flower shops, fruit & vege markets, fish markets & streetside stalls.

We also stopped at a number of restaurants (a different one each for entree, main & dessert).
Below was our first stop- Duck noodle soup.

It was a great day!
No doubt there will be more photos over the next week or two.

Liberate your art.

I don't really consider myself an artist ( more a hobby photographer) but I thought I'd sign up for the  liberate your art postcard swap anyway.
The idea is that I send 5 postcards of my art, and then they get muddled up with the art of all the other's who are involved in the swap.
Then I will receive 5 postcards in return from artists around the world.

Sounds fun doesn't it?
I had a plan this year to print out more of my photos, so I thought that this was a perfect opportunity to do that.
Now all I need to do is get my postcards sorted & send them off to Kat before the 11th August.
I'm looking forward to it!

clouds & shadows

Yesterday James stayed home from school.
He'd had some cold symptoms for a few days & I thought it would be better for him to have a bit of a sleep in.

And he did.
But by mid afternoon we were ready to get outside in the fresh air.
And fortunately, we had a patch of sunshine & blue sky.
(after a few rainy days)
I loved the big clouds over the water & the long shadows of the afternoon.
It was definitely good to get out.
Joining in here & here.

Ten photos over ten hours on the tenth day of the month.
Joining in with Rebekah at a bit of sunshine for ten on ten.

This is what my Sunday looked like...
