At the beginning of our sailing holiday we caught a shuttle bus from Proserpine airport to Airlie Beach.
I was so excited to be away, I just wanted to take photos of every moment.
So I snapped away, through the bus window with my iphone.
Love how these shots turned out.

{in the picture} july selfies

Joining in with Christy again for {in the picture} -a self portrait project.

At the beginning of the year I decided that I would do 4 self portraits a month.
For the first 6 months I have been very enthusiastic & collected 5.
So, I was thinking that I might do 3 each month for the remainder of the year.

Here are my July selfies:
Still having fun :)

Kat Sloma is looking at signs in Exploring with the camera at the moment.
I  thought that I would have a look through my photos from the last little while & see what I could find.
I found a few, all with a purpose and that obviously grabbed my attention for long enough for me to want to take a photo!
Here is some of what I found:

Shop signs...

warning signs...

descriptions & information...

boat names...

street names....

speed limits...

Signs aren't normally something that I would intentionally go and photograph, but as I've looked through my archives I can see that I find signs quite interesting, and have managed to capture quite a few.
Always good to go exploring with Kat!

scavenger hunt

I haven't joined in with scavenger hunt at Ramblings & Photos for a while,
but was able to find some shots from our sailing holiday to fit with this week's prompts.

rope wrapped around the winch, ready to hoist the mainsail.

 Time together...
ready for snorkelling at Black Island.
After a morning sail we stopped here & sent the kids (from 2 boats) to snorkel & have some fun time together while we enjoyed a cup of tea.
Then we joined them on the island ready for an underwater adventure.

 Tell me a story....
Once upon a time on a misty morning, a sailing boat emerged mysteriously from the fog...
(you can make up the rest!)

a couple of seagulls hitched a ride with us.

I think a reflection might fit the definition of duplicated, yes?

sea eagles

We were told that if we visited Dumbell Island & whistled, the sea eagles would come.
At first they kept their distance, but as we were getting ready to leave this one made an appearance from the northern end of the island.

Some interesting things growing in the rainforest.
Spotted on a walk from Tongue Bay to the Hill inlet lookout in the Whitsundays.

ten on ten

Ten photos over ten hours on the tenth day of the month.
Joining in with Rebekah
On the 10th of July I was midway through an amazing family holiday.
We have just spent 8 nights sailing around the Whitsunday Islands, part of the Great Barrier Reef off the eastern coast of Australia.
It was a fantastic time.

Tuesday was probably one of the our wettest days ,
great for snorkelling,  not so great for photography!

Anyway, this is what my day looked like:

through the streets

On Tuesday, I took Charlie's trombone to be repaired at a shop in Camperdown.

I took a few snaps as I walked the block between where I parked the car & the shop.
Lots of interesting things to see.

And so today, I went to pick up a repaired trombone.
I parked in a different spot this time, so took some more snaps (with a different hipstamatic lens) as I walked through the streets.
I had Charlie & James with me, so a stop for coffee & cake was in order!

photo heart connection

I took this photo on
 21st June, the winter solstice.
The shortest day of the year in the southern hemisphere.
And now minute by minute the days will lengthen, evenings will start to get lighter.
I love that I was able to notice the glow of the sunrise from inside the house, step outside (and across the road) & capture the colours of the morning.
Then, pop back inside to finish making the kid's school lunches.
A moment in time.
