This month I joined instagram.
I had resisted for a while because I thought it might just suck away my time.
And I can see how it could.

But I decided to join anyway, and join in with fat mum slim's photo a day for September .
It's been fun.
I've followed the prompt for each day, taken a photo with my iphone & shared it on instagram.
I've taken a few other photos too, just of the things that I've been doing, often while I'm out walking.

So, below are the photos from the September photo a day challenge.
Sept 1-9
Sept 10-18
Sept 19-27
Sept 28-30 +daily prompts

Thought I'd link in with Brenda for the 3rd Thursday challenge.
A challenge to try something new (and I did).

{in the picture} september selfies

Self portraits: numbers 37,38, 39 & 40 (4 this month!)

This month the optional theme for {in the picture}has been a 'new perspective.'
As I looked through the last 36 self portraits I noticed that most photos have been taken with my big camera,
so I've chosen to use my iphone for these ones.

holding strawberries- they're very cheap at the moment...

black & white is a new perspective for me.. I'm mostly in colour in this project.

black & white with a bit of colour.. pink nail polish & shiny new shoes- ready to go out for Nick's valedictory dinner.

I was just playing around with some editing apps. This also is a bit new to me..
I quite liked this one..

At the moment I'm loving the flowers that I pass by when I'm on my morning walk...

A day at the zoo

Last week I went to the zoo with a friend and her little girl.
It was really lovely.  It was her first time.
So nice to watch her enjoyment and funny to see what she was interested in:
the ducks that were swimming in the water in the elephant enclosure were much more interesting than the elephants,
and the pebbles at the front of the lion enclosure were fun compared to the sleeping lions.

I've already posted some photos here,  but I thought I'd add some more.
 And we loved the meerkats.

allowing space

Kat's 'Exploring with the camera' theme this month talks about allowing space in our photos.
Space can be used as a frame, to help focus attention, to contrast...read more about using space as an element in photography in her post.

So, this week when I went to the zoo I made a special effort to allow space in some of the photos that I took...
I'm happy withe these shots, always good to go exploring with the camera.

black & white

I have recently discovered an app on my iphone (tiny planets) that does wonderfully interesting things to photos-
I love how this one turned out......
the photo above began looking like this...

ten on ten

It's the tenth of the month again & I'm joining in with a bit of sunshine for ten on ten-
a photo an hour over ten hours on the tenth of the month.

Starting off with the the sunrise out of our bathroom window ( I really need to clean the flyscreen),
a morning at work & then a few bits & pieces in the afternoon.

I always enjoy looking for the beautiful things in my day. This is what my tenth looked like.
