snap it {new}

It feels like spring is here.
I  love these rose bushes in our front garden.
I'm not much of a gardener but I can prune roses & it's so rewarding to see all the new growth as spring approaches.
And I especially love the morning light.

I love the things that I see as I walk around the block while waiting for Charlie to finish his trombone lesson.

flower power

Yesterday I met with 2 friends for lunch. We try to get together from time to time & it was lovely.
We first met when our eldest children started school & now they're all in their final year of high school.
Amazing how time flies, and so special to maintain friendships that were made at the school back gate.

We went to a plant nursery with a restaurant that is local to one of us.
After we ate we wandered around, looking at all the flowers on display.
So beautiful, feels like Spring!

repetition

Joining in with Kat, exploring with a camera.
Looking at repeating patterns, shapes, objects, lines & colours in our photos.
I had a look through some of the photos that I have taken recently & this is some of what I found.

Lots of repetition!!

Buttons!
These buttons are from one of the Biennale installations.
(More about the Biennale in my 2 previous posts here & here.)

The buttons were on the table in the centre of the room, & as seen in the photo below,  the entire textile artwork took up the whole space.
We loved the colours & the light. It was really interesting walking amongst it.

Biennale

On Friday I went to the Biennale on Cockatoo Island, a free visual art event that is held in Sydney every 2 years.
These were just 2 of my favourite installations, I'm sure more will pop up in future posts.

'Domesticated turf' 2012
This was made from a shipping container, such beautiful & delicate patterns carved into the steel.
There were even doily patterns stencilled with the red sand that lined the pathway.
The lighting was beautiful too.
More information about the artist Cal Lane here

'Hylozoic Series:Sibyl' 2012
This was an interactive installation, all feathers & lights.
So pretty.
Sensors activated by touch & movement caused lights to go on, feathers to move, fragrances to be released.
More about the artist Philip Beesley here
And these shadows on the wall from the above artwork were beautiful too!
