my favourite things

Apart from brown (or red) paper packages tied up with strings & raindrops on roses, one of my favourite things is to spend time with my family over the Christmas period. Everyone is off work or school or uni, we spend some time at the beach & enjoy a slower pace of life.
I probably won't post here again until the new year, so I hope that you have a lovely Christmas & thanks for visiting me here in 2013.
See you in the new year xx

It's always lovely to get out the Christmas decorations... it's beginning to look very festive!

:: star lamps from Ikea turned on & run through the dubble app that I talked about here.  Double exposures aren't everybody's cup of tea, but I love these. {Top right is the original, top left dubbled with vince, bottom right dubbled with jackyk17 & bottom left dubbled with weebirdie.}
:: glitter tea light candles & silver jingle bells
:: a Christmas star decoration made at school for James
:: joy//love//peace

Now I just need to finish off my Christmas shopping :)

ten on ten

I love joining in with ten on ten.
It's ten photos over ten hours (approximately) on the tenth day of the month.
A great way to document my day, looking out for the beauty around me.

Today has been busy.
The photos reflect a little bit of Christmas, some decorations around the home.
I also went on a school excursion with the year 2 children that I work with. It was great. A lego robotics day where the children made monkeys that played drums and wrote stories that were filmed using their robotic creations & their imaginations.

This is what my tenth looked like....

double exposures

I've recently discovered a free iphone app called dubble. You upload a photo & then it combines with someone else's photo (from anywhere around the world) to make some really fun double exposed pictures.

These are a few that I've created, I love the way they look & it's really fun (& a little bit addictive).
The collaborations are random and the photos below are my photos combined with these dubble app users :- conorlocky, g0sp0di, secutor, thankgravity, yenwong, dukeofbkk, freezeek, maulaali

Why don't you give it a go?

I seem to have gotten out of the habit of walking every day, life just gets busy. On the weekend I made a bit of an effort to get out early & enjoy the morning light & fresh air. Hopefully I'll make it a habit again. Mornings are so beautiful (& the dog loves it).

:: Christmas bush spotted on my morning walk
:: shadows
:: playing around with prints. I'm wanting to make some postcards/prints of our photos on my other blog, two takes. It's a little tricky because the diptychs are not a standard size. These were printed by snapfish  & I'm waiting for some to arrive by moo. Have you got any ideas for good printing options?

being thankful

 We don't celebrate thanksgiving in Australia, but I really like the idea of it. I think that's why I enjoy taking photos, to notice and be thankful. Not just for the big things like family, friends, food and shelter but the little things as well, a smile, a kind word or raindrops on a leaf.
I saw this really lovely movie yesterday called about time. I loved the relationships between the characters, the emphasis on family and the importance of slowing down and enjoying what we have. It reminded me again to be thankful.

Paddington reservoir gardens

 Paddington reservoir gardens is a little haven in the middle of bustling Paddington. You can step off the main road, walk down the stairs and find yourself in a beautiful oasis, where you can grab a deck chair and a book and soak in the sunshine, as well as the peace and quiet. A space that was used as a reservoir containing the city's water supply in the 19th century that has been transformed to a serene public space, maintaining much of the original framework.
Justine and I met here yesterday to take some photos and to wander around the nearby streets.

You can read a bit more about the reservoir gardens here
