gum nut flowers

I regularly drive past these eucalyptus gum nut flowers, so the other day I decided to stop & take some photos.
I really love the look of them.

Some had fallen off the tree, so I brought them home.

  3. Beautifully alien! They don't look quite real, with their vibrant colors and spiky petals. Love the ones you took at home.

  4. I'm unfamiliar with this exotic flower - it doesn't grow here and I've never seen it until now. The petals look as though they've been dipped in sugar. I love each of your captures, especially the second shot showing what they look like after the petals fall with the empty "cones". Happy Australia Day! and happy week to you Leanne.
