We've just had a week at the beach.
Waking up very early each morning to kookaburras laughing & all sorts of other bird noises.

One morning I decided to take advantage of the early rise & take Poppy for an early morning walk.

:: just as I arrived at the beach the sun popped over the horizon
:: beautiful morning light in the rocks
:: Poppy checking out the surf
:: back from my walk to breakfast made by Charlie- bagels with egg, bacon & tomato salsa- learnt in Year 8 food tech
:: really very yummy!

capture the colour

I saw a competition called Capture the Colour - the idea is to publish a post with 5 travel photos capturing colour.
 I thought I'd have a look through my photos to see what I could find.
My travel is limited to the east coast of Australia- but still plenty of colour to be found!

Red   Darling Harbour, Sydney

Blue   Sailing in the Whitsundays
{somewhere between Airlie beach & Whitsunday Island}

Green   Hill Inlet, Whitsunday Island

Yellow   Bondi Beach, Sydney

White   Gosford, NSW

I had a few errands to run on Wednesday, so I took the opportunity to stop for a coffee & a quiet moment.
One of the errands was to pick up a camera lens that had been repaired.
I had to take some photos just to make sure they'd fixed it properly :)

::  spring skies
:: a moment- coffee & a book on a park bench :)
:: new shoots & a shadow
:: daisies
:: a spring garden, a petal strewn path
:: new growth in the sunlight

black & white

Every day (so far)  in September I've posted a B&W photo to flickr, a little project inspired by Susan (she's doing a 365 mainly in B&W).
 I decided that I'd give it a go for a month.

I really liked looking for light & seeing what would look good in monochrome.
It's been fun & these are two of my favourites.

:: lots of new growth-out of focus / in focus
:: crashing waves

ten on ten

I'm joining in again with Rebekah for September's ten on ten.
Ten photos over ten hours on the tenth day of the month.

It's been a beautifully warm spring day in Sydney.
I love documenting my day in this way, taking time to notice the things around me.
Looking for the beauty in an ordinary day, doing ordinary things.

This is what my tenth looked like....

:: jasmine in the morning light on my window sill
:: Poppy being submissive, she wants a pat on the tummy
:: a tawny frogmouth nesting right outside our upstairs window-love that there is wildlife in our residential suburb
:: Saturday morning breakfast with my husband while the teenagers sleep
:: strawberries in abundance at the moment (5 punnets for $5)

Tuesday, September 3, 2013

I went to Charlie's school fair on the weekend.
Even though none of my children were involved in the dance performances, it's the only thing I managed to photograph.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the colour & the swirling & the cuteness.

:: being a tourist in my own city
:: ferry, seagull & Sydney harbour
:: evidence of spring, pink blossoms &blue skies
:: early evening wandering around waiting for Charlie to finish his drum lesson, this jacket caught my eye
:: loved the painting of the blue sky & fluffy clouds against the real blue sky & fluffy clouds

After taking a little break, I'm joining in again with Em for weekly stills.
