yesterday afternoon

Yesterday afternoon I stopped in at a friend's house for lunch on my way home from work. It was really lovely to catch up. We met when our eldest children started kindergarten (they're nearly 20 now), and we try to get together once a month or so.
She's been growing tomatoes, so I brought some home. They looked so beautiful in the afternoon light on my window sill. They taste delicious too.

As John Denver once sang " Only two things that money can't buy, That's true love and homegrown tomatoes."

the grounds {part 2}

Continuing on from last weeks post, I thought that I would share a few more photos from the grounds of Alexandria. I'm really glad I got to take so many before we were asked to put our cameras away :)

It's a little bit hard to believe that we're so close to the end of the year! Things are winding down here, my eldest son has his last uni exam today (2nd year finished!) and my other 2  have only a few weeks until they finish their school year. The days are feeling more and more like summer, longer and warmer.  I'm  so looking forward to all of the lovely things that happen at this time of the year.

the grounds

The Grounds of Alexandria must be the most visited and most photographed place in Sydney at the moment. It's a beautiful space, a group of cafes and restaurants, garden and florist (there is even a pig, some goats and some chickens) set in an industrial area in the inner east. So, I met a friend there yesterday, we had brunch and wandered around looking at all the amazing photo opportunities.
After a while we were told we needed permission to use our 'professional looking cameras' (which was a little surprising as I had seen so many photos on other blogs).
However, it's a really lovely place with good food and coffee, friendly staff and it was buzzing with people on a weekday morning.

Here are just a few of the photos that I took, there may be a grounds {part 2} post....

ten on ten

Ten photos over ten hours on the tenth day of the month. I love capturing snippets of my day that would normally go undocumented as I go about my daily stuff.  I really enjoy stopping every hour (or so) to notice the things around me.
This is what my tenth looked like- an early start,  morning routine with my family, a couple of hours at work and grocery shopping- and of course a bit of photography.

Joining in with Rebekah at a bit of sunshine :)

this evening

This evening I  went for a short walk up my street. I took my camera because I haven't done that for a while. The sun was just setting, the weather was mild and a few people were out and about like me taking advantage of day light saving. I noticed lots of spring flowers in my neighbours gardens. The evening light was beautifully golden.
It was very nice just to get out for a moment.
