jacaranda time

 As I take the dog walking around the streets near my place, I'm noticing the purple of the jacaranda. Looking up is a sea of purple against a perfectly blue sky. I do love this time of year.

I'm {pointing the camera UP} with 52 photos project

This week it's been mostly sunshine and warm weather and a bit of rushing around. It was good to stop a few times to capture a moment.

:: a rose in our garden, lovely signs of spring
:: we visited a local school fair on Saturday, where Charlie's school band played
:: afternoon light in our back yard
:: a framed water colour print, a present for one of Charlie's friends & a little woven basket that I finished earlier last week (plus other bits & pieces on our sideboard)
::a spider web this morning in our front garden
:: another little basket that I finished last night- already in use holding David's cuff links

I love a celebration and every year around this time our neighbourhood goes crazy with the granny smith festival. The streets are lined with market stalls, the oval is filled with children's rides and animal farms, there are stages to showcase local talent and colourful flags fill the sky. I wandered down early to avoid the crowds (excellent plan).
Life has been quite busy lately, full of work and family and friends. As much as I love slow, busy is great fun too. I'm glad life is full of both.

ten on ten

 Ten photos over ten hours on the tenth day of the month. Looking for the beauty in the every day. Finding shadows & patterns, new growth & colour, inspiring words & interesting shapes as I go about my day. Today was a day spent mostly at home. I also helped out at Charlie's school canteen for recess and lunch (they do have healthier options but I quite liked the donuts for a photo).

I always enjoy joining in with ten on ten. I love how even on an ordinary day there is much to be thankful for.

This is what my tenth looked like..

We have just spent the long weekend by the beach- it was so lovely. We saw some wildlife, caught up with some friends and walked and swam at the beach. It was also the beginning of daylight saving so it really is feeling a lot like summer.

:: looking down on a water dragon sunning itself on the driveway
:: a lovely gift of sunflowers from friends who joined us for lunch
:: an example of my weaving. the small basket is the second that I have completed  after I did a workshop that I wrote about here
:: not quite early enough for sunrise,  the sun was breaking through the clouds when Poppy and I arrived at the beach this morning
:: walking by the fence
:: up the stairs

Today I was in the city. Art & about Sydney is a collection of creative works that are in and around the city. We thought we would explore and see what was around. This performance  - at the Archibald fountain in Hyde Park was definitely the highlight of our morning- part dance, part spectacle, part ballet. Quite amazing!
