January is nearly over and it has been full. I always arrive at this time of year ready to get back into  routine. I love summer holidays for so many reasons but there is a time that feels right to get back into the swing of life. We have had such unpredictable weather, hot, cold, rainy... so in some ways it hasn't felt like a long summer break (my husband always jokes that you can tell we're getting older because we talk about the weather). But it has been long. We've done a lot- had some good family time, some time at the beach, some catch up with friends, some cleaning out of stuff, BBQ's on our new deck, etc, etc

So, as I return to work and routine this week and next, I'm feeling ready (I've even started writing some lists).  I have a few little goals and  plans that will keep me busy- a new year is good for that kind of thing. My family will also be busy as they start on their new year routines as well.

So, here's to the new year!

Today I drove through the Royal National Park in Sydney to drop Charlie & one of his friends off to a camp. It was a very hot day and with traffic I was in the car for about 4 hours. It was lovey to stop briefly on the way back  home near Audley weir  in the national park where James & I ate icy poles, sat looking at the water and chatted to ducks. It was very peaceful.

ten on ten

Ten on ten begins for 2016.  For the last four and a half years I've been taking ten photos over ten hours on the tenth day of each month. It is my favourite project because it makes me look out for the little things and it gives me a reason to take photos throughout the day. SO, it is a project I will continue with this year.
Today was a great day... mostly undocumented. We had lovely friends for lunch and I enjoyed their company. I was really too engaged in conversation & busy serving a meal to take photos.Sometimes it can be a good thing to just live a moment without having to record it ( although it would haver been nice to have some photos of our friends)  I did, however, take ten photos.

This is some of what my day looked like...

 6.02 am - morning light
6.19 am - poached eggs and avocado on toast
7.59 am-  a fading rose on the sideboard
10.36am- my husband & his sister at church
11.25am - reflections in a spoon
11.26am- Nick
3.10pm - champagne
3.22pm- blueberries
5.11pm - kookaburras singing their afternoon song
5.14pm-beautiful light on the Japanese maple
