a long lens

I've been having some trouble with the lens on my camera that I usually use (17-85), so when I went into the city last week to meet Justine, I took my longer lens. It's 70-300mm. It was fun to look at things a little differently. I couldn't fit everything into the frame as I usually do. I really like the results.

I caught a ferry into Sydney Harbour and met Justine at Circular Quay. We decided to walk across the bridge & after wandering past Luna Park & having some lunch, we headed back across the bridge.

Rouse Hill

Last Saturday, David, James & I went for a drive to Rouse Hill regional park. It's an excellent spot to visit- open space,  hardly any people & brimming with history. There were a number of rebllions in this region beginning with the Aborigines rebelling against the early settlers between 1790 & 1804. Then in 1804 Irish convicts escaped from a nearby government farm and battled at Vinegar Hill. And in 1808 a battle known as the rum rebellion took place-which started after Governor Bligh stopped the trading of spirits for goods- which was a popular form of trade amongst ex-convicts & soldiers.

It was also a beautiful morning and it was just lovely to walk around. I'm very glad I decided to take my camera along....

ten on ten

It's time for ten ton ten again! Ten photos over ten hours on the tenth day of the month- a great way of documenting an ordinary day.
I nearly forgot today so all photos are taken with my iphone. I remembered as we were driving to the beach for a few hours of sand & sunshine.

This is a bit of what my tenth looked like....

10.51am - looking out of the car at beautiful trees
11.22am - a cup of Rooibos tea
11.32am - looking up at pink flowers, not sure what these are called
11.52am - James & David waiting for lunch
12.44pm - surfers walking along the beach
12.54pm - beach flowers
1.53pm  - looking out of the car on the way home- a clock on a building
2.16pm - beautiful blue sky coming home on the motorway
5.33pm - Charlie & David in the kitchen
7.05pm-  Poppy down the hallway
